Cynthia began her modeling career when she relocated her career to New York. Within a few months Cynthia was signed to a five-year contract for a 5-year contract with Wihelmina Models. It led to an extremely popular book and cover for Essence Magazine. Not only was Cynthia's first cover for Essence one of the top-selling covers in the magazine's history, it was also the personal choice of the editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia was set to write her second cover. It set her career in motion. Her next destination was Paris as well as Milan. In Milan, she was spotted on the catwalks during Paris Fashion Week. Cynthia relocated to New York City after living in the United States for nearly a year. Her campaign featured Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Magazine editorials for Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Essence and Vanity Fair were soon to follow. One of Cynthia's biggest moment in her career was the fact that she was selected against Naomi Campbell for a co-starring part alongside Sandra Bernhadt in the film "Without You I'm Nothing."
